I am a Brazilian children’s book illustrator born in 1971.
In a career which started in 1989 I spent 6 years working with animation as a 2D animator and 14 years illustrating books and magazines. As an animator I worked 4 years in an animation studio in Brasil named CCAA and 2 years in an animation studio in Ireland named Terraglyph. I also took part as a free-lancer animator in the Disney’s TV production ‘Aladdin’ which was made in several countries including Brazil in 1994.
I’ve illustrated books and magazines for Brazil, England and USA which were also sold in Finland, Norway, Greece and South Chorea. The Publishing houses I have worked for are Usborne, Barefoot, Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Ladybird, Pearson Education and International Bible Society among many others.
I’ve won 8 illustration Prizes in Brazil. One of the prizes was a trip for 2 to Disneyworld sponsored by Pan Am Airlines in 1988 and another one was a trip for 2 to London, Cairo and Sharm El Sheik sponsored by United International Pictures in 2001.
In 2002 the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair promoted an international illustration contest. My illustration ‘Gengis Khan’ was selected as number 6 in the ranking and took part in an exhibition in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2003.
Luck smiled at me in 2 other occasions. My illustrations were selected for the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava for the years 2005 and 2007.
I live in Brasilia with my wife and son.
