Suana Verelst was born in Antwerp, Belgium and currently lives in Montreal. She grew up in Kortrijk, a Belgian town close to the French border. She studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in St Niklaas before leaving for Canada to study Art History, Fine Arts and Graphic Design.
She has collaborated on children's books and illustrated a few which were published in Quebec, Belgium and the USA and received an award for two illustrations she submitted to “Applied Arts Magazine” in Toronto, Canada and most recently two of her illustrations were chosen to be permanently displayed on the website of “American Illustration and American Photography” in New York. Her illustrations were exhibited at the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, as part of the Flemish illustrator's exhibit, at “Picturale”, a group exhibition of Flemish illustrators in Ronse, Belgium and at a group exhibition of children’s book illustrators at the “4th Annual New York Showcase Children’s Book Art Exhibition” in New York City.
Currently, she is illustrating a children's book in collaboration with a French author, Alice Brière-Haquet.
