Nancy's education in the art field started at Boston University's School of Fine Arts where she was most influenced by the painting techniques of the Old Masters. She studied oil painting as well as sculpture and basic drawing.
"The value studies and color theory were invaluable and I use what I learned there every day."
She then continued her studies at Massachusetts College of Art where she found the practical problem solving they taught a key to successful illustrating.
"I consider myself a problem solver when I approach a new project. I like the challenge of learning something new and look forward to researching each new project so I can bring that knowledge to the piece."
Currently her favorite mediums include brush and India ink, oil pastels and mixed media combining digital work with her traditional drawings and paintings.
Her clients have included Eliot House Publishing in Maine; Lycos.com; the Dean of the College of Technology in Billings, MT; Better Communications in Lexington, MA; the Red Lodge Chamber of Commerce; and Ad-Spark.com among countless others.
Highlights of her local projects include an educational poster titled, Birds of Yellowstone Park, logos for Moose Trails Playground and People for Playgrounds, the Red Lodge Farmer’s Market logo, the Red Lodge specialty license plate, the first Red Lodge Christmas Stroll poster and the Red Lodge Lions Club convention pin design.
