Although she was born in Chicago and has lived in cities for most of her life, Kristina draws much of her imagery and inspiration from memories of exploring forests and gardens when she was a child.
Since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, Kristina has worked with clients including Chronicle Books, Cricket Magazine, Random House, Scholastic, Roaring Brook Press, National Geographic, and Oxford University Press. Her recent book awards include the Koret International Book Award in 2006 and the Sydney Taylor Book Award Gold Medal in 2008. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is in numerous private collections.
