Leah Davis creates vibrant artwork with beeswax and mixed media. She was raised in Wisconsin, along the wooded shores of Lake Michigan. As a child, she often passed by a house that had antique carvings of dark wooden bears on the front gate. The bears were reminiscent of fairy tales, and she often took images like these and turned them into illustrated stories. Leah earned a BFA in Illustration with a minor in writing from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2000. Since then, some recurring themes in her work include: nature, love, and irony. Today, she works as a freelance illustrator, focusing on children's books and various literature.
