At age 6, Nancy wanted to be an artist. She was already off to a good start, since she drew constantly. Before she knew it, she had graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art with a BFA and a variety of illustration work in her portfolio.
She worked as an art director for 4 years in Houston, learning a great deal about design and printing. With that experience she began her freelance illustration career, which has continued for 20 years.
Working in watercolor, her styles range from colorful realism to a flatter, Asian-influenced style with line and muted colors. She is also proficient in pencil, ink and ink wash. Her particular expertise is in drawing people, animals, and emotions.
She prides herself on keeping and pleasing clients, some of which include Abbott Laboratories, Scholastic, Highlights Magazine, ASPCA, Hampton-Brown, Barron’s Educational Series, Scott Foresman, Harcourt, and Houghton Mifflin.
Nancy is a member of Graphic Artist’s Guild and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She currently lives in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York with her husband, children and pets.
