| Anne Catharine Blake | annecatharineblake@gmail.com | Bio | Anne Catharine Blake is a creative blend of Americans and Canadians. Known as Catharine or Cathy to her friends, she grew up half time in Canada on a farm, and half time in the US around the theatre and her grandfather’s commercial art studio.

| Jim Caputo | jim@groggydog.com | Bio | Jim graduated from art school in 1986 and began his career as a graphic designer for an ad agency in Philadelphia. After doing work by hand for a few years, he finally acquired a Mac. This allowed him to move on as an art director working for a few design studios along the way.
Illustration has always been his passion and in 1998 he opened Groggy Dog Studios. After sending out a promo piece, he landed an editorial illustration for the Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition. Groggy Dog Studios was up and running. “As a kid,” Jim said, “ I was always reprimanded for daydreaming and now I'm getting paid for it!”
In 2000, he left Philadelphia and moved to Orlando, Florida. While looking for a full-time job, he took the time to develop his technique and experiment with a mixed media of watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, and brushed ink. This allowed for a fresh look and began doing work for magazines such as chickaDEE and Muse.
After nine years of working as an art director by day and illustrator by night, he decided to make illustration a full-time gig in 2007. Jim quips, “My neighbors are convinced I’m hiding under the Federal Witness Protection Program.”
His client list includes The Kennedy Center, Scholastic, Ideals Publications, Norwood House Press, and Harcourt.
In his spare time, he enjoys physical fitness, going to movies, and reading. All of which provide an endless amount of inspiration.

| Juana Martinez-Neal | me@juanamartinezneal.com | Bio | Hi there! I'm Juana and I'm a children's illustrator. I love art and birdies.
I was born in Lima, the capital of Peru. I've been illustrating for children since I was 16. Back then, my work was sold in toy packaging all across the country. I was having so much fun.
Education is a must and I attended the best art school ever, Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru - School of Fine Arts. After 3 years of a crazy 8-to-8 schedule and way too many all-nighters, I was in desperate need of a semester-break and decided to give L.A. a "test drive." I have lived in the US ever since.
I now live and work in Scottsdale, Arizona. I found a boy that I love and together we have two active, young boys who are always getting into trouble and chasing Mr. Snaggle-Tooth Kitty and Puppy.
I'm currently available for new and exciting projects so email me and let's talk. Extra points to you if you do it in Spanish. |
| Judy Stead | judy@judystead.com | Bio | My freelance illustration career actually began in fourth grade, raking in playground quarters from friends who commissioned me to draw horses. Later, in college, I majored in my two favorite subjects, reading and drawing, a good combination for working as (sequentially) teacher, graphic designer, art director, illustrator, author, and painter. My last real job title was Sr. Interactive Designer for a top secret early-internet company in Cambridge, MA. I liked to say I was a construction worker on the Information Superhighway.
I live with my family in Charlotte NC where my "treetop" studio overlooks some of Mother Nature's wildest work. My imagery appears in books, magazines, institutional and corporate publications, and licensed surface design.
The Adobe Illustrator CS WOW! Books series features my art in the 2010‚ 2006, and 2004 editions. My creative work has been recognized with honors by Print Magazine's Regional Design Annual, Art Director's Club, and Bookbuilders of Boston. In favorable reviews from The Horn Book Guide, School Library Journal, Booklist, and Kirkus Reviews, my illustration has been called "exuberant, joyful, vibrant, lively, inviting, vivid, energetic, expressive".
I've illustrated a dozen children's trade books, and THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS IN NORTH CAROLINA, credits me as author/illustrator. |

| Marit Menzin | mmenzin@verizon.net | Bio | My kindergarten teacher, Lia, discovered my talent for drawing. I attended many art workshops and I had an oil painter for a mentor while very young. I loved to read books and I also loved to write plays and poems for school.
In college I majored in Biology and Chemistry. After a few fires and one suspected carbon monoxide leak at my graduate school laboratory, I decided that I had enough of chemical threats and hazards. I then studied computers and worked as a chemistry high school teacher, and as a computer programmer.
As I pursued my scientific career, I continued to illustrate while studying different methods of painting. I participated in workshops, entitled How to Illustrate Children’s Books, at DeCordova museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. My mentor there was the acclaimed illustrator Ilse Plum.
In the past 7 years, I have devoted my time to writing and illustrating. I developed my own unique style as a collage artist. My goal as a writer/illustrator is to teach young children through an intriguing story and captivating illustrations.

| Marty Jones | marty@mjarts.com | Bio | My body of work is fairly eclectic in its nature, and isn't specifically geared toward one type of illustration, however, all of my illustrations are realistically-styled. My preferred media are graphite, digital and colored pencil; I also use ink, watercolor, acrylics and airbrush as the need arises. Over the years I have created a large number of wildlife drawings, portraits, architectural and technical illustrations. I teach art classes for children on an irregular basis; I also do school visits. My first book jacket was published in the fall of 1999; my first children's book was published in 2000. My work has been published internationally in children's books, periodicals and on the Internet. |
