| Cheryl Welch | welchdesign@aol.com | Bio | My illustrative focus has been two-fold—designing for surface/textiles and for children’s picture books. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great clients, and have illustrated product-driven textiles for Hasbro, packaging for Fisher-Price, and a Kindergarten Reader for Scott-Foresman. Whatever the project, my goal is to create art that inspires thought, evokes a smile, and serves a purpose. Whether creating a funny character or an everyday object, I use unusual colors, lines that sometimes don’t connect and seemingly impossible patterns jig-sawed together to become a strange and perfect new world filled with humor and surprise. |

| erika lebarre | erika@erikalebarre.com | Bio | Erika LeBarre has always been exposed to art one way or another as she grew up. Her father worked as a car designer for the big three until he retired, and her mother was and still is a ceramicist. Erika's parents always encouraged her creative side. Drawing was her favorite thing to do, especially dinosaurs and monsters as subject matter. Erika graduated from the College for Creative Studies in 1990 with a BFA in illustration. She worked at an art studio with other illustrators and designers for over four years. Since then she has worked as a freelance illustrator out of her home.
“Erika's work is beautiful and highly original. She always comes through with knock-out work, on time and without a hassle. She makes art directors look good! She is very thorough in her approach to an assignment and makes sure there are no unanswered questions and no unpleasant surprises. | karen craig | karen.craig1@gmail.com | Bio | Karen Craig has been designing and illustrating for children for many years. She welcomes all projects, both large and small.
Her first job was to conceptualize, design and illustrate kids' educational materials for Upstart, now owned by the Highsmith Company.

Karen has illustrated over 25 books for various publishers, based on the Nickelodeon series, Blue's Clues.
Karen is a big fan of paper engineering and also enjoys creating 'artist books' of all kinds.
The Museum of Modern Art published two of her pop-up card designs for their 2007 through 2011 Holiday lines. One of these designs was recently selected as a Louie Award finalist by the National Greeting Card Association.
Karen's cloth book concept 'Play Pockets' was published by Innovative KIDS and received a Seal of Excellent from Creative Child Magazine.
She is currently developing additional soft book and board book concepts, although she has yet to seek out a publisher. Inquiries welcome!

| Marit Menzin | mmenzin@verizon.net | Bio | My kindergarten teacher, Lia, discovered my talent for drawing. I attended many art workshops and I had an oil painter for a mentor while very young. I loved to read books and I also loved to write plays and poems for school.
In college I majored in Biology and Chemistry. After a few fires and one suspected carbon monoxide leak at my graduate school laboratory, I decided that I had enough of chemical threats and hazards. I then studied computers and worked as a chemistry high school teacher, and as a computer programmer.
As I pursued my scientific career, I continued to illustrate while studying different methods of painting. I participated in workshops, entitled How to Illustrate Children’s Books, at DeCordova museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. My mentor there was the acclaimed illustrator Ilse Plum.
In the past 7 years, I have devoted my time to writing and illustrating. I developed my own unique style as a collage artist. My goal as a writer/illustrator is to teach young children through an intriguing story and captivating illustrations.

His college illustration courses and lectures are touted as “Everything you’ve always wanted to know about illustration and your other teachers were afraid to tell you.” Clients appreciate his creativity coupled with straight forward professionalism.
For René, work and play must be closely related: “mens sana in corpore sanum” (a healthy mind in a healthy body). When he has the chance, he relishes the excitement of windsurfing, mountain biking and snowboarding. After long hours of painting, he enjoys ending the day with friends around great food and of course wine. |

| Shelagh Inglesby | shelaghinglesby@gmail.com | Bio | I am a Florida illustrator and graduate of the University of South Florida in 1995, majoring in drawing and painting. I began as an artist working in traditional mediums, from watercolor, to acrylic paints, oil paints, charcoal, conte crayon, ink and pastels but now I enjoy the clean paperless and environmentally friendly aspect of creating my illustrations in computer art programs Photoshop and Corel Painter X.
I work in layers so there is a big advantage in being able to edit the final image for a picture book. I use lighting effects, shadows and a textured brush for a luminous dreamy background. |
