Cheryl Welchwelchdesign@aol.comBioMy illustrative focus has been two-fold—designing for surface/textiles and for children’s picture books. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great clients, and have illustrated product-driven textiles for Hasbro, packaging for Fisher-Price, and a Kindergarten Reader for Scott-Foresman. Whatever the project, my goal is to create art that inspires thought, evokes a smile, and serves a purpose. Whether creating a funny character or an everyday object, I use unusual colors, lines that sometimes don’t connect and seemingly impossible patterns jig-sawed together to become a strange and perfect new world filled with humor and surprise.

Watercolors, watercolors, pencils and acrylics are the most commonly used soil but choose the more appropriate tool because each has its own character as to illustrate the text. Along with the use of digital tablet, Photoshop and versatility in reproduction of textures and strokes complete the process to meet deadlines without affecting image quality. These are digital media by email or yousendlt. My greatest affinity and experience is to the texts to a young audience, but I'm open to other audiences, texts or proposals. I bet for versatility.

After graduating from Pratt Institute, she worked on a variety of projects, –including producing a film festival, animating cartoons for network television and film, and working on a documentary– that gradually led her back to one of her first loves, illustration. My friends have tried to convince me to take up fine arts as my college course. But much to our surprise, things went the other way. I graduated with a degree in creative writing and I am working as a creative writer in a gaming firm. I have contributed storylines on some famous games which I opted not to mention in here. I am also planning to do a sideline which involves writing some academic paper like dissertation, journals and many more. Being a writer have really never crossed my mind before, but my grandfather have used some magical words to me thus instantly making writing as my passion. As of late, Sally has focused on using recycled and “green” materials in her work. One of her favorite clients is the American Forest & Paper Association who is always happy to have another mode to stress sustainability and recycling efforts. Sally’s work has been included in the Society of Illustrators 3-D Salon and the annual 3 X 3 magazine competition. During the rare moments when not cutting and gluing, Sally is happily at home in Richmond, Va. with her husband and dog, exploring the growing local arts venues and The Virginia Museum, and enjoying the empty nest that resulted from 2 little boys turning, miraculously, into young adults!
